I began to travel in France during the school holidays, and visit various regions like Alsace, Bretagne, Gers and Massif Central.
When I was 12, my parents decided to visit Germany and the north of Italy, more precisely the Bavarian region which is full of historical towns and castles. This reinforced my wish to learn german, and I came back there three years later to spend some holidays with my correspondent in Munich. At the same period I had the possibility to go to Moscow to meet my piano teacher and hear many concerts for Christmas period, to visit this foreign capital which, like Paris, is very rich in museums, old monuments and where the artistical life is really important. I went there two successive years, for 15 days at each time. It was funny to see people eating vanilla ice cream at the corner of the street, by pack of 500 gr when the temperature reached -25°C! The metro was the beautiful easiest and cleanest mean of transport, even if the number of people using it was impressive. Unexpectingly, I went in La Guadeloupe in summer for a journey. I visited the nearest islands like Marie Galante which is devoted to sugar cane, The Saintes... I particularly enjoy the people which live in music even in the bus. Like in every islands I know, the Virgin Mary is very popular in catholic religion here.
The trip in Sardinia has taken place some years later. It was a organized travel. I loved the history of the region, from Greek invasion to the creation of the Republic of Italy. Many remains spoke about religion, roman life, but the development of the island came with the coming of the Middle Age and the various "Great Houses" which governed the country and protected the cultural life of all the communities that were settled here.
When I came in the Indian Ocean, in 1995, I spent some time a La Reunion, and visit this "island of contrasts", I only regreat that there was so little remains, but I enjoyed the architecture of kreol houses and the very good cooking especially with a type of citrus named combava which perfumes chinese and kreol dishes of the island.
