MY FAVOURITE COOKINGS

When I lived with my parents, I used to appreciate dishes that had been prepared at home, and my mother likes to test new tastes, in relation with the themes she had selected as support for her courses. One year, it was Japan, another year, India or China, and so on. However, I had never cooked by myself before leaving home, when I was 18.

I have kept this way to link literature, geography and food to go further in my gastronomic discoveries ! However, I always like to prepare french dishes as there is a great choice of tastes following the regions.

On the other hand, my genealogy shows various geographic origins. With my grand-mother, who is from german origin but lived during a long time in Algeria, I use to eat dishes inspired from arabian culture, like couscous, makrouds, bricks, ...
I also eat dishes from italian origin, because my grand-fathers came both from Italy. One of my favorite dishes is a special Christmas dish from the neapolitan regian : spaghetti cooked in a stock made with a selection of mediterranean fishes, with parmesan and dried currants. Do this recipe inspire you?

As I came in Mauritius, I discovered the mauritian cooking which is a mix of "kreol", chinese and indian cookings.
I discovered chinese dishes I never ate before, because the mauritian people of chinese origin do not come from the same region than those I already knew. The same is true for the indo-mauritian cooking, as it comes mostly from a specific region, the Bihar.

Another way to learn about new dishes of other indian regions is to be invited to weddings . Like this, I have eaten tamil cooking, marathi cooking, and so on ... But I am not able to cook that!
